Passing of Mornington Peninsula culinary legend.
It is with great sadness we heard today of the passing of one of the Mornington Peninsula's culinary legends - Max Paganoni. Max opened the first winery restaurant on the Mornington Peninsula, at Red Hill Estate - Max's Restaurant at Red Hill and only recently shut the doors after 31 years. Max was looking forward to his next project, which was opening at Arthur's Seat in the coming months.
Max’s life and legacy left an indelible mark on his family, friends, staff, and the wider food community, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him.
Max’s generosity extended beyond the kitchen. He championed local growers, great supporter of local wineries and fellow food makers, and shared his passion with anyone who visited his tables. His warmth, humour, and love of life — whether for fine food, wine, cars, animals, or his family — made him beloved by all who knew him.
Our deepest sympathies go to Max's family and of course to his partner of 28 years, Marcus.
