Bentons Square Shopping Centre closed after an overnight fire destroyed a butcher’s shop and damaged neighbouring businesses.
Emergency crews were called to the Dunns Road centre at 12.31am this morning, bringing the blaze under control within twenty minutes.
The fire is believed to have started at Lindens Meats, with The Pantry House cafe and Top Pho also damaged.
The cause is yet to be determined, with traders facing stock losses and uncertainty over when their businesses can reopen.
Update:
Centre management advises that the centre re-opened for trading from 5.30pm Monday with the major stores open for business.
